"The Church in Reading ....... on the streets of Reading"

 

General Aims

  1. To provide material, practical and spiritual support to the poor, marginalised, addicted and lonely.

  2. To finance, staff and manage the activities of FAITH including the Candle Tea Bar, drop-ins, soup runs, food deliveries, home visits and other assistance.

  3. To continue to work towards providing "first rung" accommodation, which we call the 'Stepping Stone'. www.steppingstone-reading.org.uk

  4. To be a flexible and person centred resource.

  5. To encourage and facilitate people to give time and energy to helping the homeless,  lonely, marginalised and poor and thereby demonstrate something of the practical compassion of Jesus to people.

The Aims of the Tea Bar

  1. To meet the basic physical requirements of homeless, needy and lonely people who come to the Tea Bar.

  2. A contact point where the gospel of salvation can be demonstrated through love, care, practical help and personal contact.

  3. A place where permanent staff can build relationship, trust and arrange follow up work during the week.

  4. A focus point for training and equipping volunteers.
