Finding Faith at Reading Festival

 

 

The aim of this website is to build a record of the involvement of the Church in Reading with the Festival 

The following Churches and Christian organisations are already doing something

 

 

Carey Baptist Church

Carey Baptist have pioneered outreach to the festival 

For some years now given out maps of the town to arriving fans. These give the locations of supermarkets, cash-points etc.

At one time they took a "Good News" double-decker bus down to the site

In 2005 their approach was to use a questionnaire of religious beliefs as an opener to conversation

FREE FOOD and DRINK

Caversham Baptist Church

Since 2004 have been opening the doors of the church for free drinks, food and use of toilets

Their aim is to show that the church in Reading cares and wishes to welcome the "fans" coming to the Festival. 

They hope that  they may demonstrate that Jesus cares too!

One visitor commented "You've restored my faith in the church"

Why is it free?

 

 

FAITH are an interdenominational charity working with the 

homeless and marginalized in Reading

 

For many years now FAITH have 

taken their Tea Bar to the car park of 

Greyfriars Church  

to give out free drinks and food to Festival goers

The church also provides many of the volunteers

Prayer

Reading Church Pastors from several denominations prayer each year on the main stage before the Festival begins

 

Reading Boiler Room ran a prayer room in 

Greyfriars Church for two years.

 

 

 

In 2001 the 24-7 Prayer crew in Reading ran a 

prayer tent on site at the Festival
